She is the daughter of Joan Grande, a businesswoman and Edward Butera, a graphic designer. Right from childhood, she used to sing and dance. That helped her get to the local theatre, even before she became a teenager. She frequently performed at Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theatre and her first character was Annie. She also performed Beauty and the Beats and The Wizard of OZ. When she was 8 years old, Grande made it to national television singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” for the Florida Panthers.
She studied at Pine Crest School and North Broward Preparatory School. When she was 13, she took her music career serious but still maintained appearance in theatre. Her enthusiasm was so huge that even at 14 years she told her managers that she wanted to record an R&B album. They all brushed her off questioning whether anyone would buy a “14-year-old R&B album.” After getting a role in Broadway, Grande’s schedule became tight that she left her high school but remained enrolled. The school provided her with materials so that a tutor could help her through the studies.
