Breakout role in Victorious of Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande’s first major appearance was in 2008 when she landed the character of Charlotte in Broadway. She was 15 at that time. The role was a success and Grande bagged home the National Youth Theatre Association Award. She went on to feature in small TV roles through the show The Battery’s Down.
But her breakthrough was in Nickelodeon’s Victorious. Victorious targeted arts high school and Grande was given the character Cat Valentine, an aspiring actress. While still working at the show, Grande still pushed forward her musical career. Her first appearance was Victorious’ soundtrack. In 2011, she released a pop song – Put Your Hearts Up - for her young Victorious audience. During the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2012, Victorious was voted the Favorite TV Show.
After the show was taken off-air in the same year, Grande appeared once again with her character Cat Valentine in the much-loved Sam & Cat TV show. Her co-star was iCarly’s Jennette McCurdy. It came to an abrupt end in 2014 after 35 episodes. Meanwhile, Grande’s “The Way” had made it to 10 in U.S. Billboard.
